Skrill, the world-leading digital wallet, owned by the specialized payments platform, Paysafe Group, was awarded by Juniper Research at the 2019 Future Digital Awards as the Best Digital Wallet.
Juniper Research, which held the fintech awards for the eleventh year in a row, distributes accolades to companies that have offered a significant contribution to the growth of their field and will continue doing so in the future. The awards honor corporations that give priority to innovation and try to “explore uncharted waters” with a focus on providing the customers with better services and products, better customer experience in general.
Skrill was founded in the UK back in 2001. The digital wallet operated for the first years under the name “Moneybookers” and it facilitated online payments due to its fast, secure and convenient procedures. Skrill “brought to the game” many features enabling its customers to send and receive money, make online purchases, even buy and sell cryptocurrencies. Skrill has made openings to other types of payments as well by launching a pre-paid Mastercard card, cooperating with Klarna and supporting the deposits and withdrawals of many payments. A major part of the success of the company is the fact that it suits the needs of both personal and business purposes.
Of course one of Skrill’s main-focus industries has been online gambling in which it made a great impact, being one of its most important “players” in the field of online payment processing.
Lorenzo Pellegrino, CEO of Skrill, NETELLER and Income Access at Paysafe expressed his content for the award by commenting that the hard work of the working team was recognized but Skrill won’t stop striving for innovation in order to continue to be the “top dog” of the digital wallet industry.
